Fire and Police Department Open House
The Clarendon Hills Fire and Police Departments will join forces for an Open House on Saturday, October 2 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Fire Department, 316 Park Avenue. The event kicks off Fire Prevention Week in association with the Nation Fire Protection Association.
The Open House will feature a variety of fire prevention displays and hands-on activities, including police and fire safety vehicles and a fire safety trailer. Food will be available. The event also will include a blood drive sponsored by the Fire Department and LifeSource. Area vendors will be on hand and there will be a prize raffle table.

Train Station Area Redevelopment Project Community Meeting

Train Station Area Project Meeting Planned
The Village is currently conducting a Train Station Area Redevelopment Planning project to identify opportunities to improve the train station site. A community meeting to discuss the project is planned for 7 p.m., Wednesday, October 27 at Prospect Elementary School. All residents, business owners and others interested in the project are invited to attend. At the meeting, consultants will present concept plans for review and comment.
​​​​​​​The Train Station Area Redevelopment Plan builds on the vision of the Village’s Downtown Master Plan, which was approved in 2006 following significant public input. A key component of the Downtown Plan is redevelopment of the train station site. The Train Station Area planning project is funded through two grants the Village received. The Regional Transportation Authority contributed $80,000 and the West Suburban Mass Transit District contributed a $20,000 match. It is anticipated that future redevelopment of the site would be funded through private investment, public funds and grant opportunities.
| Flagg Creek Work Continues Downtown ​​​​​​​Flagg Creek Water Reclamation District (FCWRD) is currently in the process of constructing a major sanitary relief sewer that runs through sections of Hinsdale, Westmont and Clarendon Hills. The construction project includes more than $14 million in improvements that will help relieve sanitary sewer surcharging during heavy rainfalls. Work is concluding at the intersection of Ann Street and Eastern Avenue. Construction recently began near Park Avenue and Walker Avenue and will last approximately four to five more weeks. Currently Park Avenue is closed between South Prospect and Walker Alley. Flagg Creek anticipates that vehicles will have access to east-bound Park Avenue from north-bound Walker next week. West-bound Park will remain closed for the duration of the work. Please note that some parking will be blocked on Walker and Railroad Avenues. Fall Leaf Collection Begins in October
​​​​​​​The annual free fall leaf collection begins Monday, October 4 and continues through Monday, November 29. During the months of October and November, yard waste stickers are not required for paper yard waste bags and cans of leaves. Residents are asked to clear leaves from their property to avoid area storm sewers from being blocked during fall and winter rain events. Please note containers with material other than leaves or mixed with leaves will require a yard waste sticker. Do not use plastic bags and do not pile leaves loosely on parkways. Please note that leaves cannot be burned within Village limits.
