As we anticipate everything that 2022 has in store, I like to take a step back and celebrate all that our community has accomplished over the past couple of years. Without this progress, our community wouldn’t be on this exciting trajectory of growth. Thinking about Clarendon Hills and everything we stand for, it’s gratifying to see our collective progress and the beautiful changes happening all around us.
Clarendon Hills has seen tremendous growth and revitalization through the dedicated efforts of many community members. In February 2020, I was fortunate to host the “Clarendon Hills Real Estate & Economic Summit”, where local leaders came together to discuss the current state of Clarendon Hills and what was expected for the future. (The Summit was recorded for the benefit of the community – you can check it out over on my YouTube channel here.)
Fun fact: the Summit, which was mere weeks before the pandemic hit and lockdowns began, was held at 30 S. Prospect Ave in downtown Clarendon Hills. This property was vacant and I had it listed for sale at the time of the Summit. The building has since sold, underwent a gorgeous renovation, and our community is now enjoying fantastic food and wine in this very spot, now Il Mio.
We saw many changes and advancements for our community after the February 2020 Summit. Below are just a few of the many highlights:
Metra Station Renovation
This project, as a part of the larger Downtown Revitalization Project (We did a video series on this, in case you missed it – watch here), included railroad crossing improvements and train station improvements. From new shelters, light fixtures, and security enhancements to painting and landscaping, this important project brought a refreshed area to our community. With many commuters coming through Clarendon Hills, it is gratifying to have an updated train station that complements our wonderful town.
Business District Revitalization
We have had many commercial properties sold and leased over the last few years, which has brought additional business and growth to Clarendon Hills. As mentioned above, my team sold 30 S. Prospect Avenue and also partnered with the new owners to communicate the plans for the space with the community in this video. We’ve also worked with The English Garden Flower Shop to aid in the purchase of additional property that will accommodate an exciting 2022 expansion for their business in the heart of downtown on Prospect Avenue. More news on that coming soon! Clarendon Hills has also seen new businesses open or relocate to rental spaces in commercial buildings like 1 Walker Avenue. It’s been a joy being the catalyst for local businesses to set up a home base right here in Clarendon Hills! On the lower level of the property, we’re also fortunate to have another new restaurant – The George – offering delicious meals with fresh food and ingredients. (We sat down with the owner, chef, and manager right before the grand opening for a behind-the-scenes look at the space and the very personal story behind the restaurant’s inception – check out our video featuring The George here).

It is so exciting to see this new activity in Clarendon Hills, and I am thankful for the many people who are trusting our community to aid in their success. Myself, I am committed to helping our community thrive by partnering with local businesses to make them successful. I’ve lately been offering this support through local business video features, event sponsorships (Check out the videos we made as sponsors featuring 2021’s 65th Anniversary Christmas Walk and 2021’s epic return of the Dancin’ in the Street summer concert series), and staying active in the real estate community to bring residents and businesses into Clarendon Hills.
I find it a great honor and privilege to play a role in the growth and success of our town. Clarendon Hills is an amazing place to call home, and I am thankful for the opportunity I’ve been given to support the community and help it thrive that much more. We should all be proud of the great strides Clarendon Hills has taken in the last few years, and I am excited for everything to come. The biggest question that remains is this, “Are you Clarendon Hills?”
