Founded in 1863 by a railroad company, the new town drew in Chicagoans, Germans, and Swedish tradesmen, along with many other settlers. Through their commitment to the town and its posterity, Hinsdale became a thriving village by 1873, the year it was also incorporated.
Today, residents enjoy a lively community with a vibrant and inviting downtown. Anticipated annual events include the Downtown Christmas Walk, Farmer’s Market (celebrating 47 years!), Fine Arts Show (50th anniversary this year!), and Uniquely Thursday Summer Concert Series. Favorite restaurants and eateries include Fuller House, Il Poggiolo Ristorante, Vistro Prime, and Page’s Restaurant. For sweet bites, community members enjoy Sweet Ali’s Gluten Free Bakery and Toni Patisserie & Café.
