With almost 200 years of history, Westmont is a welcoming town located about 30 minutes from downtown Chicago. Rated one of the best places to live by Niche, Westmont offers residents an urban-suburban vibe, coupled with highly-rated schools and a flourishing downtown community with many restaurants, coffee shops, and parks.

The first permanent settler in DuPage County, Bailey Hobson, passed through the Westmont area in 1829. History shows that one of the motivating forces behind the development of Westmont may have been improved canal transportation. Over time, settlers cleared the land, and agriculture became the main occupation. Westmont continued to grow and thrive, with a railroad built in 1864.

Today, Westmont has nearly 25,000 residents and a wide variety of local businesses. It is a quaint and quiet village, ideal for young professionals, commuters, and families. Neighborhoods are safe, diverse, and welcoming, boasting 18 lush public parks and affordable homes.

Westmont is also a very business-friendly community. The downtown business district is currently seeing a great deal of revitalization which is attracting businesses and residents alike. Ogden Avenue – known to many as One Auto Mile – is home to several luxury auto dealerships, contributing to the financial strength of the area. Westmont is also home to more than 100 restaurants and an active chamber of commerce.

Westmont is a wonderful community that emphasizes enjoying nature and gathering together to relax and celebrate. The town often hosts festivals and gatherings as an opportunity for families and friends to come together and appreciate the goodness of the town. These events include the Taste of Westmont, Cruisin’ Nights and Street Fair, the Wicked West Fest, and the Holly Days Festival. Dining is quite a selling point for Westmont as well, with many delicious options. These include Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen, Uncle Bub’s Barbeque, Neat Kitchen & Bar and the Whiskey Hills Brewing Company.

Another great advantage of living in Westmont are the highly-rated schools. Westmont is serviced by a few school districts, but primarily the Community Unit School District (CUSD) 201. Notable public schools include:

  • Maercker Intermediate School (Maercker D60)
  • Westview Hills Middle School (Maercker D60)
  • Hinsdale Central High School
  • Westmont High School
  • Westmont Junior High School
  • JT Manning Elementary School

There are many private school options available as well, and families in Westmont appreciate the inclusive dynamic that both the public and private schools offer.
