Village Board Approves Infiniti Development

At Monday’s meeting, the Village Board approved a new Infiniti car dealership planned for Ogden Avenue. The Village Board also approved an economic incentive agreement that shares a portion of the sales tax generated at the site with the dealer.

“This is an exciting opportunity for the Village,” said Village President Tom Karaba. “The Village will benefit not only from the economic impact of the development, but we also look forward to welcoming such a well regarded brand into our community.”

The ownership group will construct a car dealership and service center between Oxford and Woodstock Avenues, and plans to demolish the former Mayflower Motel, Classic Casual Furniture and Glass America all of which have recently gone out of business.

The Village anticipates it will receive substantial economic benefit from the dealership, not only in the sales tax it will generate, but also by replacing obsolete businesses located in a prime commercial area for the Village. The dealership will bear the name Clarendon Hills, providing additional exposure to the community from passers by on Ogden Avenue.

“We’ve been very fortunate to have Rob these past eight years, and he unquestionably leaves our Village not only a better place to live, but also a better place to work,” Village President Tom Karaba said. “We wish Rob and his family nothing but the best and extend to Rob a big thank you!”

The Village is currently in the process of searching for a new Village Manager. Voorhees Associates LLC has been retained to conduct the recruitment and search process. Flagg Creek Water Reclamation District (FCWRD) continues on Park Avenue between Walker and Western Avenue. Park Avenue is closed to through traffic, but affected businesses and residences will be accessible, including the Post Office.

Work is concluding on Eastern Avenue between Park and Holmes, and is expected to be finished within the next week. Traffic on north-bound Holmes will be detoured to Sheridan and then to Prospect.

Don’t Forget to Check, Clean Smoke Detectors

Each year, residents are reminded to replace the batteries in their smoke detectors and clean them of dust and debris when Daylight Saving Time begins and ends. If you didn’t get to it when you changed your clocks back, the Village encourages you to do so now to ensure your smoke detectors are working properly when they are needed.
