Summer is finally here, and we are so excited for all of the wonderful events we have going on in our community! We are fortunate to live in an area that is so committed to local businesses and groups, supporting their missions and purposes. Whether you are looking for a farmers market, weeknight concerts, or local festivals, here are a few of the many events happening right here in our community:
Farmers Markets
We are fortunate to have many farmers markets open this season! Below are a few to check out:
Open every Thursday from 7am – 1pm, the Clarendon Hills farmers market has something for everyone. Conveniently located at Village Hall Plaza at 1 N Prospect Ave, community members can choose from a wide variety of offerings including bakery items, honey, natural remedies, and lots of fresh fruit and vegetables! The Clarendon Hills Public Library also conveniently hosts an outdoor story time during the second Thursday of every month, beginning at 11:30am.
Celebrating its 46th annual farmers market, Hinsdale begins their season on Monday, June 6th. Running June through October, vendors offer everything from produce to unique finds from local farms and stores. Located at 30 E Chicago Ave in Hinsdale, join between 7:00am – 1:00pm. You’re also welcome to join “Fitness in the Park” during the same time – a great way to stay active and shop locally!
Weeknight Concerts & Showcases
Dancin’ in the Street is back! This beloved concert series will run every Wednesday evening for six weeks beginning June 22nd. Join our community at the stage downtown on Prospect Avenue from 7pm – 9pm for lots of family fun and connecting with your neighbors. You’re welcome to bring your own lawn chairs and blankets, and there will be a beer tent for those of age. We’re excited to groove together this summer!
Check out Cruisin’ Nights for a different weeknight family outing. Every Thursday beginning June 2nd from 5pm – 9pm in downtown Westmont, enjoy seeing a wide variety of makes and models of cars. The events also include live music, food and beverage specials, kids’ activities, and three blocks of streets closed off and dedicated to classic car parking. All makes and models of vehicles are welcome each week, so it’s always a surprise what you will see!
Ushering in its 20th season, Hinsdale is proud to present its Uniquely Thursdays. Every Thursday beginning June 16th, community members can come together in Burlington Park for the concert series. An event for the entire family, join in to listen to some great music, enjoy the beautiful summer weather, and connect with your neighbors and local businesses.
Festivals
Known as the festival of “Food, Fun and Fireworks”, The Taste of Oak Brook is an event for the entire family to enjoy an evening of delicious foods from Oak Brook restaurants and a spectacular fireworks display. Hosted on Sunday, July 3rd at the Oak Brook Polo Grounds, families can enjoy kids’ activities, food and beverages – including a tent featuring beer, wine and sangria – and the fireworks display beginning at 9:30pm.
Taste of Westmont is happening this summer, running July 7-10. This event includes lots of activities for all ages – live music entertainment, incredible food from local restaurants and vendors, and a carnival with lots of rides! Located on Cass Avenue in Downtown Westmont, families and friends can come together to enjoy everything the Taste of Westmont has to offer.
