Homeowners and Residents From Around the Western Suburbs of Chicago Love to Celebrate 4th of July With a Bang. Many Communities Have Parades and Fireworks. Below Is the 2011 Guide to Enjoying the 4th.


Clarendon Hills

Summer Family Festival
 
Prior to the firework show at Hinsdale Golf Club, there will be activities for children and food available.
 
Where: Prospect Park, Chicago Avenue, Prospect Avenue, Norfolk Avenue and Oxford Avenue
 
When: Monday July 4, 7 to 9 p.m.
 

Hinsdale

4th of July Parade
 
This is the granddaddy of parades folks! It’s the place I proposed to my bride and got engaged too!
 
Where: The parade starts at Sixth and Garfield Streets, north to First Street, west – Grant Street and south – Sixth Street.
 
When: Monday July 4th 10 a.m.,
 
Celebrate America Craft & Art Fair
 
A huge (!) Art Fair indeed! 100 plus venders offer homemade goods, crafts and art. There are activities for the kidos, live music, a turtle races and food!
 
Where: Burlington Park, Chicago Avenue and North Washington St.
 
When: Monday, July 4, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Enjoy after the parade
 
Don’t forget to stop and listen to the Chamber Orchestra on the field in front of the library.
 

La Grange

Patriotic Concert at St. Cletus in La Grange
 
Mass and activities for kids. Food and Italian Ice $$ benefiting the parish.
 
Where: St. Cletus Parish, 600 W. 55th Street
 
When: Mass at 5 p.m., concert at 7 p.m., July 3, Sunday
 
Patriots in the Park
 
La Grange Park District broadcast WLTL’s official soundtrack from the fireworks show at the La Grange Country Club.
 
When: Sunday, July 3, 9:30 p.m.
 
Where: Waiola Park, 47th St. and S Waiola Ave.
 

Oak Brook

Taste of Oak Brook
 
Jesse White Tumbling Team will be there! Children’s activities, live music, food – what more could you want?
 
Where: 31st St. at Oak Brook Sports Core Polo Fields.

Fireworks at DuPage County Fairgrounds
 
When: Sunday, July 3, 9 p.m.
 
Where: DuPage County Fairgrounds, 2015 Manchester Rd.
 

Oakbrook Terrace

Independence Day Celebration
 
Annual community picnic, concert, and big bang fireworks!
 
When: Monday, July 4. The picnic is from 4 to 7 p.m., the concert from 8 to 9:30 p.m. and the fireworks will take off at 9:30 p.m.
 
Where: Terrace View Park, Hodges Rd. near Route 83
