Fire and Police Department Open House on Saturday
The Clarendon Hills Fire and Police Departments will host an open house from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 2 at the Fire Station, 316 Park Ave., to kick off Fire Prevention Week. The open house will include a variety of fire prevention displays and hands-on activities, including police and fire safety vehicles and a fire safety trailer. This year’s event will also include a blood drive sponsored by the Fire Department and LifeSource. Food will also be available.
A Silent Parade will conclude Fire Prevention Week on Friday, October 8. The parade is dedicated to the firefighters and civilians who have lost their lives due to fires. The parade will begin in Hinsdale at 7 p.m., traveling through Clarendon Hills and ending at Route 53 in Lisle. Clarendon Hills residents may view the parade and pay tribute by holding a flashlight as the cortege passes at approximately 7:10 p.m. The best place to view the parade in Clarendon Hills is from the Clarendon Hills Middle School, 301 Chicago Ave., Clarendon Hills Park District, 315 Chicago Ave., or the Notre Dame Church parking lot, 64 Norfolk Ave. A brief ceremony will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1101 Kimberly Way, Lisle, at approximately 7:45 p.m.
Senior Forum on Fraud Prevention and Consumer Safety
State Representative Patti Bellock (R-Hinsdale) will host a forum for seniors about fraud prevention and consumer safety in conjunction with the state Attorney General’s Office. The forum will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday, October 5 at the Tivoli Theater, 5021 Highland Avenue in Downers Grove. Attorney General Lisa Madigan will speak at the event. The forum will cover topics related to consumer fraud such as debt settlement traps, fake check cashing scams, risky reverse mortgages and health care fraud.
