Luxury living with a small-town feel and easy access to Chicago
Oak Brook is a beautiful suburban village with quick and easy access to Chicago via expressway I-88. The village’s proximity to Chicago makes it a sought-after location for families and young professionals to settle down. A view from above reveals acres of green expanse in the village of Oak Brook; thus, there are quite a few places in the neighborhood where it is easy to escape and get back in touch with nature. With low property taxes and luxury living, most residents own their homes and revel in the successes of the village. Whether you are looking for a traditional architectural style of home, or something more along the English Tudor architectural style, there’s something that will pique your interest in Oak Brook.
Oak Brook is the home of a little over 8,000 people, and this smaller population fosters a small-town feel. Residents of the village are amiable and go out of their way to make sure everyone feels like they’re part of the community. While community is important in Oak Brook, so is having the space to do your own thing. Most residents love to frequent the many parks with acres upon acres of space for activities.
The village of Oak Brook has a wide array of shopping options, including the Oak Brook Center and the Oak Brook Promenade. These two shopping centers are popular among locals, as there is a slew of popular shops like Zara, Warby Parker, the Wine Cellar Outlet, and more.
There’s nothing like a good steakhouse, and Oak Brook has several must-stop restaurants, including: Michael Jordan’s Steak House, Ditka’s (technically in nearby Oakbrook Terrace), and Gibsons Steakhouse. Michael Jordan’s Steak House was founded decades ago by the basketball legend himself; if you want to get a slam dunk steak, this is where you need to stop.
If you are not a Chicago Bulls fan, don’t worry about it because there’s Ditka’s for our Chicago Bears fans in the village, too. Ditka’s provides its patrons with quality ingredients and a taste that will drive them back to their door time after time. Locals also enjoy the buttery steaks of the locally-famed Gibsons Steakhouse. This steakhouse offers steaks cooked to perfection in a few locations across Chicagoland, including Oak Brook.
Steaks are great, but if you’re looking for a different kind of filling meal, you might want to stop by Labriola Bakery Cafe. Don’t let the name fool you - this is more than a bakery! Touting “Chicagoland’s Best Burger” on their menu, you can enjoy a wide variety of quality crafted meals that leave locals satisfied. Grab a lemon bar, a blueberry scone, or a couple of macarons for the road before heading home.
Oak Brooks is a beautiful, verdant village; its connection with nature is especially captured by Fullersburg Woods, Mayslake Peabody Estate, and Mayslake Forest Preserve. The Mayslake Peabody Estate is located at the Mayslake Forest Preserve, and together, they connect residents back to the basics: nature, art, and history. The estate is a massive mansion styled after the Tudor Revival architectural style of the early 20th century. While you are welcome to roam the forest preserve, residents are always welcome to attend one of the cultural and art programs at the estate year-round.
Similarly, the Fullersburg Woods is a 220-acre wildlife preserve where locals can do everything from biking to horseback riding, to snowshoeing. The Fullersburg Woods also houses the Graue Mill & Museum, a functional water wheel mill, and a museum detailing life in the late 19th century.
If a golf outing is on your agenda, Oak Brook Golf Club has the perfect 18-hole course to enjoy the afternoon.
Oak Brook is serviced by 9 school districts, but primarily the Oak Brook School District 53.
